As Christians, I believe one of the most important things we can do is to live with the end in mind. If we approach every decision, interaction, and relationship with the goal of hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” we will be more intentional in all that we undertake. When we wake up each morning with the goal of finishing well and leaving behind a heritage that reflects Jesus above all else, it motivates us to face the things that are hard. Though it requires courage (a word that comes from the Latin word for heart), taking time to work through issues with people affirms the image of God in them and reflects the Holy Spirit in us. Fear and uncertainty shouldn’t keep us from doing the next right thing, whether it’s having a difficult conversation, being honest about an addiction, or saying “yes” to other divine promptings in our heart. With Jesus, we can face uncertain situations and walk through the discomfort that ultimately leads to freedom.
My friend, your Savior has gone before you, and He is waiting for you at the finish line! He is cheering you on and beckoning you to live each day in the light of your eternal reward. No matter how difficult the task before you seems, you can embrace it with the knowledge that He will be with you. You have the honor of bringing His chain-breaking power to every circumstance you encounter, and as you welcome His Spirit to guide your interactions, He will bless others through your commitment to truth and integrity. Live each day with the end in mind, and the legacy you fashion will far outlive you.
