Remain in Him

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

– Isaiah 55:12

There are many benefits of abiding with the Lord. When we choose to stay with Him and continually acknowledge that He is with us, the world takes on a new vibrancy. Perhaps this is why Jesus told us to remain in Him and offered a corresponding promise that doing so will cause us to bear fruit. In fact, the Bible gives us specifics about the type of harvest we can enjoy when we practice His presence, and Galatians 5 tells us that the crops we will cultivate are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. Thankfully, choosing to abide with God doesn’t demand that we be super-Christians or that we spend three hours a day in focused prayer, it means that we simply remember that He is with us. Since He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother, we can talk to Him as we drive, call out to Him for help as we work, and sing a song to Him in our hearts as we prepare to face our day. We can thank Him for His favor when we get out of bed in the morning and ask Him to watch over us before we go to sleep. As we constantly welcome Him to our midst, our surroundings invariably come alive; nature shouts His praises and His majesty becomes evident in every tree and mountain. In short, when we remain connected to the True Vine, our lives are blessed, abundant, and budding with good fruit.

My friend, as you embrace this day, I encourage you to walk moment-by-moment with Jesus. Look for Him in the little things, and make it a point to call out to Him as often as you are able. Even if it’s just a few words, turn your eyes toward Heaven and invite your Savior into every aspect of your schedule. Breathe in His love, speak His truth, study His Word, and worship Him in your spirit. As you do, your heart will blossom with His power and you will behold Him everywhere you turn. In nature, in the smile of a stranger, in the laughter of a child, or in the home you enjoy, your Heavenly Father will reveal His kind and loving presence as you continually seek His face.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you that I can always remain in you. I know that you are with me, so help my spirit to come alive in your presence.
