Contaminated Love

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” – Psalm 139: 23, 24 Yesterday, we talked about what it looks like when love is contaminated by desire or fear on the part of the one giving it and how that can be harmful to the person on the receiving end. The reality is that agape love is pure. In English, agape literally means with mouth wide open in wonder, so in our Christian tradition, agape love is the most wonderful, unconditional kind; the type that transcends circumstances and causes our hearts to rise to God in wonder and thanksgiving.
