His House
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” – 1 Corinthians 3:16 As a student of Jesus, understanding His Word is key. One of my goals as a pastor is to help you grasp some of the cultural contexts in the Bible, and today, I want to address one in particular — the temple. The temple was the center of Jewish life, not just spiritual, but cultural as well. It’s where money was kept, where business happened, and where government rulings were made. It was also the site of religious festivals, housed the altars of sacrifice, and most importantly, it’s where the Spirit of God dwelled.
