Train When You Can’t Plan

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24 One of the most frustrating things about the strange year that’s continuing to unfold before us is that we can’t make plans like we’re used to. Since the world is in limbo, it’s hard to orient ourselves, and as we approach the holiday season, it’s easy to feel a sense of sadness over how different things look compared to last year. However, now more than ever, it’s important to maintain a positive perspective and to remember than when you can’t plan, you can train. In fact, I think training is often overlooked in a society that values big accomplishments but doesn’t like to acknowledge the pain of getting there. Nevertheless, personal development is the prerequisite to anything praiseworthy.
