Preparing Today for Tomorrow’s Challenges If your friends asked you today if you would run in a 10K race with them with only a few day’s notice, could you do it? That’s a 6.2 mile race for you non-runners, and don’t worry, I had to look it up myself! Unless you run long distances every week, most everyone would say, “Thanks, but NO thanks!” Why? Because we know that runners have to train months to prepare their bodies for such an intense race. Wouldn’t it be great if we trained our minds like runners trained their bodies, so that we could be ready to overcome any challenges that crossed our path? Character Produces Hope

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:3-5 Did you know that perseverance builds character, and character produces hope? The word “hope” in the Bible is translated from the Greek word “elpis.” It is defined as “joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation.” For some individuals, their suffering, pressures, and tough situations have actually transformed them into positive and hopeful people.
