We Really Need Christmas

“When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” – Matthew 2:10,11 I remarked to Hannah a couple of weeks ago, “I feel like this year we really need Christmas.” And I didn’t mean “we,” the Schuller family. I meant “we” the whole world. Christmas is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural phenomenon. I know the world as a whole feels this need for Christmas. I am mindful of how so many of us have felt down for years for various reasons, with a proverbial gray sky emotionally hanging over our heads.
