“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

– Psalm 143:8

Yesterday, we talked about hearing the voice of God and how important it is to know the leading of our Good Shepherd, especially in times like the present. For the next few days, I want to give you some specific ways you can tune into the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your daily life. First of all, in order to recognize the loving voice of your Savior, it’s important to have a Biblical mind. Naturally, you cultivate this when you spend time reading the Bible, which is why I believe it’s vital to do that on a regular basis — just don’t make a law out of it. Read when you can; maybe a chapter or two in the morning or at night and then go to other passages as you have time or are led. When you read, don’t fret about the verses you don’t understand, just ask God to illuminate what you need to see and leave the rest up to Him. There’s power in the simple act of opening His book, and as you apply your mind and heart as best you can, He will meet you with the power of His Spirit and transform your life through His living truth.

My friend, when you absorb Jesus’ promises and take in the goodness of His Word, your mind will become like His and His voice will illuminate the circumstances of your daily life. In these uncertain times, the Bible is the foundation upon which you can consistently build and anchor your hope. Your Savior cares for you so much that He gave you a guidebook to help you navigate even the stormiest seas, and His never-ending goodness abounds to you as He embraces you through the pages of great Scriptural love letters.

Help me, Jesus, to love your Word and to apply it to my life so I can consistently and clearly hear your voice.
