“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
– Matthew 6:24
![]() Growing and living every day with God is the best kind of life we can live. I was blessed to attend Business School at a Christian college, while at the same time working at a real estate investment company. These worlds were polar opposites. In both spaces, I made friends who were on a journey to success. There were two in particular, whose stories went in opposite directions. One guy I worked with, we’ll call him Brian, was a real go-getter and I was convinced that he would become financially successful someday. His dream was to own a Porsche 911 turbo and make money. I admired his drive to move into that status. The other guy I knew from school was Richard, who was from Australia and a few years older. He was a different kind of person, full of God’s life and he had a way of seeing to the needs of those around him. His dream was to serve others. Years later, I connected with both men. Richard became a missionary and an inventor, however, Brian’s dreams were still unrealized and he was continually frustrated. Friend, I need you to hear this today: You can desire dreams that you believe will bring you happiness all day long, but you must develop into the type of person where the things you want in life come to you. As Jesus said, seek ye first the Kingdom of God; that is, the reign of God in your life. This is how you become more like Jesus. |
Prayer
Jesus, show me how to see the needs of others and seek your Kingdom first in this way.
Reflection
How do you see yourself growing every day with God? Are you seeing your dreams come to pass?
