“Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.”
-Psalm 112:1-3
The idea of giving in faith is dependent on us giving with a good heart. If we act in faith thinking we’ve come upon some spiritual get-rich-quick scheme, I’m sorry. God loves us too much to crush us under the weight of wealth if our characters can’t handle it. He loves us too much to hurt us and harm us in that way.
In our day, most people think of wealth as how much money you have, but in the kingdom of God, wealth is how much you give away. The true mark of prosperity is generosity given from a good heart. A billionaire who gives away nothing is poorer than a poor person who gives away $10. In fact, the poor person who gives away $10 is $10 richer than the billionaire who gives away nothing.
Give in faith and watch what God does with your generosity.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to give to others out of a good and generous heart. Show me the way. Amen.
Reflection: Where is God leading you to give?
