“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’ ”
– Mark 2:17
![]() I believe the Lord commands us to be: merciful, friendly, kind, welcoming, and a healing presence. Each of these is the greater reflection of who Jesus is and the heart of God. Jesus Himself said God did not send him into this world for the healthy, but for the sick. The heart of God is one in which people in crisis would come to a place where believers are gathered to find care, comfort, and compassion. If you are going through hard times, feeling defeated in your job, or can’t face another bill or doctor’s appointment, come to this loving place. People who are clouded with doubts about God, or the meaning of life, could gather for support, healing, and encouragement. These believers represent the heart of God. The heart of God is for you and not against you. The scripture says in Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’ ” Poetically speaking, God has called the believers to reflect Him as the moon reflects the sun. Friend, you can run to God whose arms are open for you. Our God is more than ready to hear your prayers and speak to you in times of suffering. He has peace for you that bypasses your understanding! Because of believers who reflect Him, don’t isolate yourself when you’re going through tough times. Proclaim to yourself, “I can’t wait for Sunday to be with God’s people, or God is here right now!” Our God is strong and He cares about the big and little issues in our lives. |
Prayer
Father, thank you that I can run to your open arms. I receive your peace.
Reflection
Do you know that God’s heart is for you? Do you reflect God’s mercy and kindness?
