“Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.”

– 2 Peter 3:1

Yesterday I shared that you can be a living sacrifice by releasing the pattern of the world. We must adapt to God’s instructions to shift into a different mode of thinking, and another way of seeing through a new lens. Allow me to stress this once more: The sacrifices that we make translate into a new kind of pattern that will be beneficial for us to adopt. It’s a new way of thinking that will renew our minds in a positive way. The sacrifice that is made does not bring death, but it brings life! It is a new beginning — a new life that you give to yourself and those around you.

In order to think new thoughts, we have to work hard. New disciplines can be challenging and difficult at times. It can be hard to remember to tell your spouse that you love them each and every day. It can be difficult to plug away at a big project at work, or a personal project at home. It’s hard to live within your means. It’s hard to quit smoking and to quit other vices we have.

Friend, there are a million things that need to change in our lives and in our thinking, but it’s hard to do this. Changing our thoughts that we’ve been conditioned to think can be extremely challenging, but it’s a sacrifice that needs to be made. This sacrifice leads to life, and is born out of a new mindset and a new perspective! With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are able to adapt to these new patterns of success!

Father, please help me to adapt to new patterns that will renew my mind.

Are you having difficulty practicing the disciplines of new patterns regularly? Can you ask the Holy Spirit to help you adapt to these new patterns?
