“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy 1:7

When we talk about thoughts, we also have to talk about fear. The Scripture says that God has not given you a spirit of fear. Instead, He has given you a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. There is nothing more opposed to a sound mind than a spirit of fear. Although all of us worry and have anxiety, some of us decide to move in the direction of the things that worry us. And that is you. You were not born to live in fear. You were not born to wake up in the morning worrying. You were given the heart of the Lord. You have the ability to do what no one else can do, because you have been given a spirit of power, a spirit of love, and you’ve been given a sound mind. So claim it in Jesus’ name.

Prayer

Father, thank you for giving us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. Help us to remember, feel and claim it each day.

  1. I am saddened to advise you that once again there was no familiar hymn offered, After twenty years of joining the Hour of Power congregation, first under your grandfather and then at Shepherds Grove it has been the one constant that has seen huge changes as I have aged to 92 and transitioned from a home I loved, given up my driver’s license and now it seems am no longer to enjoy singing such hymns as “Crown him with many Thorns, “etc. Beloved hymns that under your former beloved Choir Master were a regular part of the service. In receiving information of the declining support in finances I am wondering if many others feel as I do that this is not the Hour of Power I loved and supported, but not any longer, Thank you, PN.

    1. Hi Patricia,

We are sorry to hear that you haven’t been hearing some of your favorite hymns! Singing hymns was very important to Dr. Schuller and it’s important to Bobby and the whole team here at Hour of Power. We have made sure to include traditional hymns in each of our services, as well as solos from our amazing guest musicians. We love you and hope that you hear one of your favorites soon!
