“You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.”
-Nehemiah 9:6

Think of some of your deepest, most profound experiences with God. If you are like me, some or even most of them took place amidst God’s creation.

Peter’s Canyon is one of those places for me. Many times God has spoken to me there. One very hot day as I was running through the canyon, a bunch of gnats hit my face. As I’m flapping them away, saying, “I hate gnats,” I felt God impress on me that he loved gnats. This was a moment where God used creation to teach me something.

I remembered how Jesus often said things like, “If God takes care of these birds of the air, and if he takes care of these flowers of the field, how much more he is going to take care of you.” In that moment, God used gnats to teach me about his great love for us all.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am blessed in so many ways by the beauty of your creation. Your love shines through in everything I see. Amen.

Reflection: How does God’s creation speak to you of his love?
