The Only Way To Become

“And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.”

– Philippians 1:14

Yesterday, I shared with you that, even as we move into the zone of productivity within our God-given assignments, we often find that the dread or fear of suffering is far worse than the suffering itself. Once again, my mind is brought back to Paul’s desire to suffer, a result of his transformed heart. It was clear to him that the only way he could fulfill the goal of becoming like Christ was through suffering like Christ.

Are we able to say that is a reality in all aspects of life? There is only one way to become a real artist, and it is to suffer like an artist to achieve that goal. If you want to become a preacher, then you must suffer as a preacher does. To become a master speaker you have to put the books away, get in front of people, and start speaking, and that’s a tough thing to do. In order to find the person you want to marry, you may have to come across a lot of unhealthy people before you can find a good relationship.

Friend, suffering is a part of the process of life that we go through. Can I just say it this way? As long as you get through the suffering, you will be able to move forward. It is your responsibility to pay the price. The price of the reward is suffering. By the way, the suffering, as you might imagine, will not be as terrible as you think it will be. The Holy Spirit is with you to see you through!

Father, it is my prayer that you will help me to overcome any suffering, which will enable me to move forward.

Have you ever thought that the suffering you expected to be so terrible was not as intense as you imagined?
