Bigger than the need…

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
-2 Corinthians 9:6

As Christians, we need to learn that, when we’re at the end of our ropes, we don’t know what to do with our finances, one of the best things we can do is to give out of our own need. That is a way of releasing faith.

When you hoard, when you hold on, when you don’t give anything when things get hard, that’s a way of saying: I trust my bank account more than I trust God.

Of course, when you give out of your need, you always want to do this first: Listen to the Lord, and if the Lord calls you to give in the midst of your need, then respond with faith and believe that God will bless you for it.

Giving out of your need to someone else in need is a way of saying that God is bigger than my need. When you give your money away when you need the money, it’s a way of saying God is bigger than money.

Prayer: Dear Lord, when I am worrying about my finances, show me whose need is greater than mine is and how I might help them. Amen.

Reflection: Have you ever given away something that you needed?
