“Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.’”
– Revelation 5:5
![]() Merry Christmas! Though it’s been an unprecedented and bumpy road that’s brought us to this December 25, today can be a milestone we’ll never forget, because when we walk through seasons of turmoil and loss, God brings our hearts closer to that which is eternal. While our focus in times gone by has been on entertaining, presents, and holiday “perfection,” this year has made it clear what’s most important. In 2020, none of us will take for granted good health, food on our table, a job that pays the bills, or the loved ones who surround us (even virtually). More importantly, we won’t forget the Guest of Honor at our Christmas celebrations. While He doesn’t announce His presence loudly, the wonder of Jesus is that He is always with us. Though the story of His birth began over 2,000 years ago, it continues today, and His Kingdom is revealed in the moments and miracles of our everyday lives. Because He was born to triumph, we can triumph too. Since He endured suffering and willingly gave Himself up that we might live, our victory is as certain as His. He overcame so we can overcome. May we always remember this marvelous truth, and may it fill our hearts with deep and abiding happiness as we welcome His peace and power to our midst. My friend, Jesus has triumphed over every obstacle, sin, and difficulty you will ever face, so you can celebrate with unspeakable joy! On this day of rest and reflection, may He reveal afresh the wonder of who He is, and may His love inspire you to commit every moment of the next year to His care and keeping. Like the presents under your tree, the greatest Gift ever given is wrapping you in His presence, and my prayer is that He’ll hold you close in the hours, days, and months ahead. God loves you and so do I! |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you that you reign triumphant in the world and in my life. I’m forever grateful that you came to earth to wrap me in your unfailing love.
Reflection
How will you welcome Jesus to your celebrations today?
