“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” -Ephesians 4:29
Maybe in your family, you had a mom, a dad, grandparents, or uncles who only saw the worst in you. Maybe when you grew up you were the one that was always left out. People may have seen you as the black sheep or the clumsy one (I had that experience). They never thought that you would do much with your life.
But you have to know, that it is not the way God sees you. God is calling you to greater things than what those in your life say you can’t do. Everyone needs someone to say, “Although people don’t see the best in you, I see something great in you.” Especially the young people in the world today – so many remain unblessed by their elders. They need mentors. They need parents. They need friends, big brothers, big sisters, that come into their lives and say, “Although nobody can see it, I see what God sees in your life. I see that you can do incredible things.”
Be a mentor, an encourager to someone who needs one today.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, even though I’ve been discouraged at times, I have also been encouraged, and it has meant the world to me. Help me to be an encourager to others, every day, everywhere I go. Amen.
REFLECTION: How do you encourage others?
