Carried by His Currents

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

– John 3:8

We talked about how the winters in our lives provide us with force and strength the other day. Today, I want to remind you that a winter storm is always blown away by the wind, ushering in a new season.

You can feel the Holy Spirit blowing through you as you grow in your connection with Jesus, just like the grass moves with the power of fresh breeze. As you become closer to Him, you’ll be able to hear His voice more clearly and understand where He’s taking you, but with the knowledge that He’ll be the one driving you. If you find yourself lying awake at night wondering what you should have done or what you shouldn’t have said, I urge you to let it go! Surrender and pass over the things you feel responsible for to God. Allow the breeze of His might to carry you along in a rhythm of rest rather than stress. Allow the Holy Spirit to move your life, not our own efforts, and manufacturing, like a sailboat catching the wind and sailing on its currents and energy. You will be amazed at what you can do in His strength once you stop struggling.

Friend, as you awaken from your rest, I advise you to let go of the minor details that tempt you to worry over. Allow the currents of His Spirit to lead you into the next season in His strength when the storms arise. Listen to God’s voice, learn what He desires for your life, and go with it, trusting that He will do the pushing, hustling, and making! Isn’t that fantastic news?

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for carrying me by the power of your Spirit as you teach me to let go of my worries. You are, I believe, ushering me into a new season.

Reflection

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you right now in your life? What is the direction of His wind?
