Carried by the Spirit’s Currents

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

– John 3:8

Yesterday we talked about the power and strength that we gain through the winters of our lives. Today, I want to remind you that it is always the wind that blows away a storm and ushers you into a new season.

Like the grass moves at the power of a fresh wind, as you grow in your relationship with Jesus, you feel the Holy Spirit blowing through you. When you draw closer to God, you begin to hear the sound of His voice more clearly and you are able to discern where He is leading you, with a confident assurance that He will do the pushing. When you are tempted to stay awake at night thinking about what you should have done or something you shouldn’t have said, I encourage you to let it go! Surrender the things you feel responsible for and hand them over to the Lord. Go with His flow and catch the wind of His power to move you along in a rhythm of rest — not stress. Like a sailboat catching the breeze and riding on its currents and energy, allow your life to be moved only by the Holy Spirit, not by your own efforts and manufacturing. As you cease striving, you will be amazed at what you are able to accomplish in His strength!

Friend, as you come alive in your rest, I urge you to let go of the little things that you are tempted to stress over. When the storms come, allow the currents of His Spirit to usher you into the next season in His strength. Listen to the voice of God, learn what He wants for your life and move with that, knowing that He will do the pushing, the hustling, and the making! Isn’t that wonderful news?

Prayer

Reflection

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you in your life right now? Where is His wind leading?
