“Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me.”
– Psalm 25:4-5
You have to find yourself a meta-narrative – locate yourself in the big story that causes your purpose to be actually for other people. It’s not about getting credit or glory — it’s about helping people in need and co-creating with God. Be a part of His good redemptive work in His good world. Can I get an amen? I believe it. I don’t mean to be critical — I don’t want to condemn you because I want to say if you are someone who thirsts for a cause, way to go. You’ve got the first step down. Of course, all of us have a need for a cause, but I want to just tell you that your cause must be located in the Will of God. When you find it, it’s going to be good, and you’ll devote your life to it — you might even die for it, and you’ll be happy to do so. That’s how awesome it is. That’s what happens when you take on the name of God — when you carry the name of God.
Thank you, God, for my meta-narrative. I want to serve you and serve others.
What do you think God’s purpose is for your life?
