The Power During the Hour That You Do Not See! As the familiar strains of “Joyful Joyful” fill the Sanctuary signaling the start of Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller, the power of God’s Holy Spirit is also at work in other places on the campus of Shepherd’s Grove. In our Sprouts Children’s Ministry, our nursery and preschool are learning about “The Giant Picnic” – the feeding of the 5000 – through music, video, puppet shows and crafts.  They are in a lesson series called “All About Jesus”. Our kindergarten through 5th-grade children just finished a great, two-week Easter Eggstravaganza and now are in the middle of Zooplosion – an eight-week series of lessons where animals are a part of the Bible story.  Kids have fun in our pre-session room and then head into the Zooplosion Theater for music and learning programs.  Then, they finish up in their small group

This Week on Hour of Power

Pastor Bobby begins a new message series called: “I Am –Knowing God by Name.” In this series, Bobby will teach on what it means to carry the name of the Lord and what the different Old Testament names for Yahweh mean for you.  Today’s message: “Yahweh Bore: I Am Your Creator. You Are My Sons and Daughters.” We are so happy to have Natasha Bure with us, a highly recognizable face on social media with an amazing vocal talent to back it up. Natasha has kept very busy with competing on “The Voice,” designing jewelry, modeling, blogging, and has somehow found time to write a book entitled, Let’s Be Real. Natasha’s book is available wherever books are sold. Today, Natasha performs, “You’re Beautiful” (comp: Phil Wickham). She is accompanied by the Hour of Power Orchestra. Directed by Michael Skidgel, the Hour of Power Choir performs “Unclouded Day” (comp: Rev. J.K.

From the Desk Of: Chief Operating Officer Russ Jacobson

In the 19th Century, it was commonly said that “the sun never sets on the British Empire.”  Here at the Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller, we don’t have an empire, but we do have an international presence.  The Hour of Power is broadcast in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Switzerland.  When it is the evening in the United States, the day is just getting started in Hong Kong.  When the work day starts at home, offices are preparing to close in Germany and the Netherlands.  The sun truly never sets on the Hour of Power. Having an international presence is important to us because it was important to Jesus.  In Matthew 28:19, Jesus exhorts his followers to “make disciples of all nations.”  This means exactly what it says – that followers of Jesus Christ are called to proclaim the Gospel around the globe.  And so

Holy Week at Shepherd’s Grove

At Shepherd’s Grove, we were blessed with an outstanding Holy Week this Easter thanks to the tireless work of our staff and congregation. Beginning on Palm Sunday and ending with Easter Sunday, the time was filled with anticipation and excitement, to reflect upon the most important week of the year. The celebration began when our own Voices of Hope Children’s Choir graced the stage on Palm Sunday, waving palm branches over the procession, followed by a dynamic flow of vocal arrangements. Added to our already robust musical offerings was the powerful sound of bagpipes. What an amazing gift! Good Friday at Shepherd’s Grove was interwoven with moving words of Scripture during our Modern service, followed by the gift of Handel’s Messiah, performed by the Hour of Power Choir and conducted by our very own Don Neuen. Both services were well attended by our congregants and supporters of Don’s recent retirement.

Honoring the Incomparable Don Neuen

It was our joy to recently honor our beloved choir conductor, Don Neuen, on his well-deserved retirement. During his over six decades of creating music, Don has built a legacy of choral excellence that resonates in Orange County and has extended across the globe. He has passionately conducted many choirs, performed in many incredible venues, and expertly taught and written curriculum for chorale graduate students at several prestigious universities. Don means so much to this ministry — he has helped to establish and maintain the Hour of Power’s world-renowned reputation for outstanding musical worship. But, more importantly, Don instilled a legacy of passion, kindness, loyalty, and friendship to this ministry. We are so thankful for him. We recently got to sit down with Don as he remembered his time at the Crystal Cathedral and Shepherd’s Grove, reflecting on the people and the memories that mean the world to him:
