God has been opening doors for our local church, Shepherd’s Grove Presbyterian Church, to become more involved in the Orange County Foster Care community! The diagram above shows what happens in Orange County annually, to give you a sense of the challenge. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of kids who have no family to call their own. The County is very willing to work closely with the faith community because they cannot solve this problem without churches like ours getting involved. Shepherd’s Grove is partnering with an organization called ZeroBy2020, which has built deep relationships with the County of Orange, Child and Family Services (CFS). The goal behind ZeroBy2020 is to find a family for every child in OC by 2020 and equip the church to support them. With the help of our local government and a church-to-church strategy, we can accomplish this God-sized goal together. SG has already started getting involved both

“Joseph had a dream and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more.” – Genesis 37:5 The dreaming component in the church, for whatever reason, has withered, to a degree. Many churches have forgotten this very important part that God has called us to be people of faith; to do great things for God, to take risks, to go places nobody would ever go for the sake of the kingdom of God. I think that we need to become the kinds of people who encourage people to dream, especially to dream for God. A dream is happy memory in the future. When you have a really big dream, it feels like a memory. When it’s really a dream from God, it’s like you’ve already experienced it. And because you’ve sort of already experienced it, even though it didn’t technically happen, it’s like you know it
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” – Psalm 37:5-6 God does not want you to be hurried. You can’t be hurried and be happy because if you’re hurried all the time, your relationships will be suffering. Many of your relationships will be an illusion. You’ll be tricking yourself into thinking everything is going great, and you’re able to hide it because you’re always in a hurry getting to the next thing. You will find very quickly that your relationships will improve if you can make reduce the clutter in your life and become more present, and become an interruptible, loving, patient person. There are times in our lives where we have a lot to do, and we’re busy. You can be really effective at your job
