If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. – Matthew 6:22
When you see the good in others, your whole life is filled with goodness. When you move from seeing the worst in people to seeing the best in people, you’re filled with a new life and joy that you didn’t know was there before. And the opposite is true. If you shift from seeing the good in others, you get hurt, burned, or wounded, and now you only see the worst in others. You’re going to then experience a lot of darkness and fear in your own life. A lot of sadness.
You have the option today to choose what you will focus on in a world that is filled with both dark and light. See what is light. See what is good and your whole body will be filled with goodness. This is a promise from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. He says the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be filled with darkness. Focus on the light.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for giving us light. Help me to focus on the good in others. Amen.
REFLECTION: What is my focus when I look at others? How can I be even more focused on the good?
