“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
– 1 Galatians 3:26-29
![]() It was a radical thing in Paul’s day to say that there was neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female. The concept that everyone was equalized through the work of Jesus was unheard of and offensive to many. The same holds true today, yet the reality is that if you have trusted your life to Jesus, Abraham is your spiritual great grandfather, and you share in the unchanging promise of equality. As a believer, you should strive for sanctification and seek to live a moral and good life, but it’s important to remember that God is not punishing you or angry at you. You have been cleansed and have received all the righteousness and justice you need to stand boldly before the throne of God! You are not under a curse. You have been equalized by the cross and resurrection of Jesus and you are clothed in His righteousness! Isn’t that good news? |
Prayer
Thank you, Jesus, for clothing me in your righteousness and for making me your child.
Reflection
What does it mean to you to be clothed in Christ?
