“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” -Matthew 18:20
We worship a powerful God who became a human being. Although we recognize that Jesus Christ is the son of God and while he was once physically here, it feels like he isn’t anymore. But he is, he’s among us in you and me. The Holy Spirit lives within us, and it literally means that when another Christian hugs you, Jesus is hugging you too. The most profound experiences you can have of God’s goodness and the devil’s evil is always going to be through the body of another person. It will always be when someone lovingly puts a hand on your shoulder, or in an evil way, hits you or harms you in some way. You can’t just experience God in the beautiful solitude, wonderful ways, worship music, and the things that you do in silent: You also have to experience God through people. God wants to engage with you through others, through your community. So, show the love of Jesus to your families, friends, and even strangers this Christmas.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for always being present. Thank you for connecting with us through our community. Help me to show your love to my community, the fifteen feet of space around me.
REFLECTION: Do you see Jesus in your community? How could you show more love to your community?
