“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse”
– Romans 1:20
![]() Did you know that the default for a human being is to believe in God? According to a recent Pew research study, 90% of Americans believe in God. However, I’m willing to bet that 100% of people in say, African jungles, believe in Him. Children believe in Him, too, until they’re taught not to. This is because our natural state is one of belief; it is built into us to look around in awe and understand that there must be a Maker of all the goodness that we perceive with our senses. The world is full of the Lord’s glory; I believe we see it all around us, all the time, and science is constantly making new discoveries about the wonder of creation. One of the greatest discoveries made by Albert Einstein in the 20th century is that all matter is energy. I read another scientist who said that all matter is frozen light. So if you imagine the tiniest atom and pretend that you’re holding it in your hand, even though you can’t see it or feel it, you can split it open and see tons of power flowing from it. Although it’s just one microscopic molecule, there’s loads of life and energy trapped in its core. When you multiply that times billions, it’s easy to come to a place of awe, both of the Creator and His Creation. You see, God’s world is great and powerful, full of life, and perfectly orderly. Simply admiring His handiwork is enough to enable us to trust His ability to care for us. Friend, I believe you have an innate desire to discover the goodness of God! Just as Jesus said, “Knock and the door will be opened, seek and you find…,” you are designed to live in an ever-deepening relationship with the One who made you. He readily reveals Himself to anyone whose heart isn’t hard, so I beg you, please don’t allow your desire for sinful things to stifle and shut out the voice of Jesus. He is ready and willing to speak to you, both through His creation and by the power of His Holy Spirit working in your heart. You are His child and He delights in knowing you and making Himself known! Isn’t that amazing news? |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for revealing yourself to me through creation. I want to know you, and I am so grateful that you want to know me, too.
Reflection
What do you learn about God when you look at His creation? How is He speaking to you through it today?
