“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
– Psalm 139:23,24
![]() Yesterday, we talked about how we are all leaders, how we each have influence, and how by intentionally blessing and encouraging others, we bring the essence of Jesus to a dark and hurting world. But in order to do this well, we must cultivate our Savior’s heart from the inside out. Societal transformation starts within each one of us, and after we’ve been reborn by the blood of the Lamb, it’s crucial that we bring ourselves fully before Him. When we invite the Lord’s light to search us and then submit all that we are to His refining hand, He humbles our spirits, roots our identity in His love, and plants seeds of transformation in our souls. As we change from deep inside, we begin to think and act more like Him, and it becomes easier to esteem others as better than ourselves. In fact, this manner of growth happens only as a result of a personal metamorphosis that’s made possible by the Holy Spirit. When we embrace a living, active, and abiding relationship with Christ, our identity in Him is secured so we can let go of ourselves and become a servant of all. My friend, being a spiritual leader starts with letting God lead you. The way to cultivate the kind of genuine servant-oriented influence that’s needed to make a difference in this crazy world is to submit to the Lordship of Jesus and ask Him to give you His heart. Follow in His footsteps, let your spirit be searched by His Word, and allow Him to become your guide on the pathway of life. Then, as you partake of His Kingdom power in greater measure, He will shape you into the kind of genuine, loving, and overflowing person who makes a difference in many lives, both now and for eternity. |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for saving me and for making me new on the inside. I ask you to lead me in every area of life so I can lead others.
Reflection
How might you cultivate the heart of Christ in your life through surrender?
