“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together.” -Colossians 1:15-17

Too often we take our own vices, resentment, and anger and we project it on God. Voltaire said this famous criticism,“ In the beginning, God created man in his own image, and man has been trying to repay the favor ever since.” We try to project all of our shortcomings onto God. He’s not that way; God is love. Jesus shows us what God is like. Jesus does not go around to make people sick. Instead, He heals them. Jesus doesn’t go around telling people that they’re stupid, He teaches people. Jesus is a friend of sinners, and we need a friend like that. You can trust in God that He’s on your side — and you do! You’ve put your trust in God and it’s made all the difference. Keep faith alive in Him. He will not abandon you because you messed up. He will not abandon you because you doubt from time to time. He loves us — not for what we do, not for what we have, and not for our reputation — He just loves us  He’s our dad. Dads love their kids. God loves you. So put your faith in God, He’ll never let you down.

PRAYER: Thank you, Jesus, for being our friend. You are good, just like God. Teach us how to be more like you.

REFLECTION: Do you tend to project your flaws onto God?
