Daily Victory

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’”

– 1 Corinthians 1:18,19

There’s no doubt that the times we’re living in are challenging. In the past eighteen months, we’ve dealt with things we previously couldn’t have fathomed, and our faith, principles, and beliefs have been tested. That said, there’s never been a better time than now to focus on the upside-down nature of God’s Kingdom. The teachings of Jesus are a source of hope and illumination, and when we’re facing adversity, only He can truly bring about triumph. However, in order to see His best manifest, we must apply ourselves to some pretty counterintuitive principles. First of all, we must recognize that we get an apology by saying we’re sorry. While it hurts our pride like nothing else, being the first to humble ourselves and express remorse, even if we don’t feel like we’re in the wrong, is a powerful way to invoke spiritual authority. Second, we gain a seat of honor by moving to the end of the table. When we willingly forfeit whatever it is our rank entitles us to and let others go ahead — whether in business, at church, or in relationships — we inherit blessing in the Kingdom of Heaven. Finally, we receive by letting go. Whether it’s winning an argument by asking questions instead of hammering a point or gaining a promotion by faith rather than posturing for position, the power of Jesus finds us when we let Him decide what’s best. As much as we love to control our outcomes, we truly thrive as we learn how to let God be God.

My friend, you are made in the image of the Creator of the Universe, and He wants you to flourish! Though it means you must battle against the desires of your flesh, when you let go of yourself, you will be exceedingly and abundantly blessed. As you internalize the truth that nothing you lose in human currency can subtract from God’s good plan, you take flight on wings of His power and become a living demonstration of the wonder of surrender!

Prayer

Jesus, though your ways are upside down to this world, teach me to treasure and embrace them.
