“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:11
When you move from seeing the worst in people to seeing the best in people, you’re filled with a new life and joy that you didn’t know was there before.
And the opposite is true. If you shift from seeing the good in others, you’ll be hurt, burned, and wounded. When you only see the worst in others, you’re going to experience a lot of darkness, fear, and sadness.
You have the option, today, to choose what to focus on in a world that is filled with both dark and light. See what is light, see what is good, and your whole body will be filled with goodness. This is a promise from Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. He says the eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be filled with darkness. Be filled with his light today.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, may I be your bright light in a world in such desperate need of you – your truth, your love, your joy. Amen.
REFLECTION: How do you bring God’s light into the lives of others?
