Do You See What God Can Do?

“…and said to the entire Israelite assembly, ‘The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us…’ ”

– Numbers 14:7-8

I have a question for you: Are you able to see what God can do? In the Book of Numbers, God prepared the Israelites to transition to the Promised Land.  After the Egyptians enslaved them for hundreds of years, God frees them and they become wealthy. He not only performs miracles, like the 12 plagues against Pharaoh, but also the parting of the Red Sea. As they travel, God is guiding them. Manna, a type of food, falls from Heaven every day. They don’t fully trust God despite these miracles. We also trust God’s goodness, but not fully.

During the transition to the Promised Land, 12 spies are sent, and 10 come back who said the land is inhabited by giants. Two spies, Caleb and Joshua, said, and I paraphrase, “The giants are nothing compared to those Egyptians. Do you see what God can do? He has performed miracles on our behalf, remember? We can do it. We serve the Lord, so let’s possess the land!”

Friend, from the outside, they’re not slaves as God has insured sufficient provisions. On the inside, they remained slaves, afraid of the unknown and wanting to return to slavery. To them, it’s safe. They don’t care about the Promised Land. The alternative is to have no danger, no giants, no challenges, or difficulty. If you say, “That’s me,” I encourage you to live by grace. If you lack courage, you can say, “Lord forgive me for not entering the Promised Land.” Afterward, he’ll say, “My daughter, my son, let’s go.” You’ll never be the same!

Prayer

My God, give me the courage to enter the Promised Land you have prepared for me.

Reflection

How has God blessed you with miracles? As a result, are you more trusting of Him?

  1. He has been giving me healing over the years so I try to trust.I pray to Jesus. I try to trust in Him. Satan blocks it. Problem! I used to think Satan was in me to humble me. Now I do not know.Where is the Lord now I do not know. 15 mg of a drug along with other drugs has helped me. This has been my help. Is God really in me. Satan said it was he who changed me in Vietnam not Jesus. I have doubts.

  2. I was sure about Jesus and The Father about who was healing me most of my life since 1971. Now I do not know since 2019. Tom I was sure about The Lord God Jesus Christ and my healing and Him being in me.
