Don’t Be Offended

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”

Proverbs 19:11

In today’s world, everyone is offended. It’s getting worse and worse like people think they’re only strong if they’re offended. I’m troubled because it seems like the more educated someone is, the more likely they are to be offended. Whether it’s in politics or religion, there are so many people in the faith that are offended and always angry about every little thing. Being offended does not mean you’re strong. Being offended does not mean you’re smart. Being offended usually means you’re insecure. And when it’s a big thing, it makes sense, but it seems like so many of us are almost looking to be offended. Instead, we need to look to reconciling. We need to look towards mercy. We need to look to instruct, to have compassion, to understand our neighbor, to understand people that disagree with us, and to follow people on Twitter we disagree with. Life is too good to spend even a second being offended. Enjoy your life. People are offensive, in general. It’s just like a law. Some people definitely cross the line and that’s true, don’t be offended every day. If you’re offended every day, it’s too much. You get like once a month, okay?

Prayer

Help me, God, to stay unoffended. Help me strive towards peace and not arguments.

Reflection

How can you move from offense to reconciliation?

Hi Bobby, this “Positive Minute’ has me mystified… what are you talking about, that people are “offended”? I have no clue what you are speaking about here… I usually find these messages to be great food for thought, but this one is so cryptic (??)

  3. You are correct about people being offended. Some look for a reason to be offended, in the Political arena. Our American History is under attack to be erased. It is very easy to be offended. We must remain calm, state our position , keep our composure and not be offended, just because we don’t agree with others.

One of the best hard rock short messages I have seen in a long time.
