“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
– 1 Timothy 6:6
![]() Yesterday, we talked about how becoming a tourist in our hometown can help us to cultivate gratitude in our daily lives. Today, I want to share with you the second key to living a more thankful life: don’t compare, ever. If you’re a mom, don’t compare yourself to other moms. If you’re an accountant, don’t compare yourself to other accountants. If you’re a pastor in ministry, don’t compare yourself to other people in ministry. Whatever you do or whoever you are, don’t compare. It’s especially important that you don’t compare your current life to your past life; don’t look back five, ten or twenty years and think about how different things were then. Just be content where you are right now. Be present and take note of what you have. It’s a gift that you’re alive and that you have family and friends. Life itself is a gift and it is full of blessings, you just have to have eyes to see them! |
Prayer
God, thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and that you created me just how you want me. Teach me to be content with who I am, where I’m at and what I have.
Reflection
What does it mean to you to be content? Has comparing yourself to others stolen good things from your life?

Thank you for sharing that we are not to compare our ministries with others. Paul In Philippians ch 3 reminds don’t look back to be content.
We each are created unique as individual snowflakes. Eavh of us have a purpose in the Mystical Body. It is so important to lift each other up and look for the good and the beauty in each other. Reach out and touch each other’ hand. Together we can make it a better world. Yes. We can. Be the best you can be for His honor and glory. This is true contentment. so grateful for the gift of life
To be in contentment is to be having a joyfilled grateful thankful attitude always despite on our circumstances that God wants us to be happy with being & having gladness in our hearts! Yes, it has done it in past years in my life but God showed me by listening to my dad preach years ago on Phillippians 4:13 on contentment & being thankful & grateful spirit & to this day I don’t compare my life to no one’s anymore for that GOD has given myself & my family a very blessed life thus far to share with my extended family , amazing church family, & good Christian confidente’ friends as Well!
