“Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”
– Isaiah 61:7
![]() Research shows that there’s an important key that makes all the difference on whether or not you can connect deeply with other people: Some people believe that they are worthy of love and belonging, and others don’t. The people who believe that they’re worthy of love and belonging are doing so much better in connecting deeply with others. The other people feel like they have to earn it. They feel like they’re not good enough and not smart enough. Do you feel that way? Shame is the greatest barrier between being vulnerable and connecting deeply with others. But there’s hope in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because all that I have done died on the cross with Christ. I am loved as I am and I belong to a family that will never abandon me. You belong! You belong to the family of God and you are loved. And that will never be lost! You are worthy of love and belonging. Believe it. It is true. That is the Gospel and that is great news. |
