But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31

Today I want to say to you: You don’t have to worry. You don’t have to be afraid. You can move in the direction of the things that worry you. You know, everybody feels fear and worry. Everybody wants things to be perfect. Everybody wants to have control. But sometimes we have to let those things go, and just take one step in the direction of progress. When there is something that dreads, worries or bothers us, the temptation is to withdraw. We all have our ways of withdrawing: we just go watch TV, we just forget about it for a minute, we take a nap, or we go for a drive. And sometimes it’s okay to clear your head, but if that becomes a pattern, ultimately, it makes it worse. The temptation is to just withdraw always when we have a worry. That brings temporary relief, but it’s training you to become a fearful person. So don’t withdraw! You can move in the direction of the things that worry you. I know you can!

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for telling me to not be worried or afraid. Thank you for having a plan for my life. Please help me to not withdraw, but move in the direction of progress.

Reflection

Do you have a pattern of withdrawing? What’s your habit?
