“…Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

– 2 Corinthians 12:9,10

Yesterday we talked about two important truths we can internalize as we focus on our best days being ahead of us: anything is possible and there will be suffering required to get there. Today, I want to convince you that going after your dream is worth the struggle!

Just like being healthy means that you have to exercise a little bit every day, being the kind of person who embraces amazing possibilities requires that you expect trouble. In fact, beyond expecting it, I will go so far as to say that you can and should embrace it. I want you to get to the point where you can say, “I’m glad I struggled because those struggles made me the person I am today.”

I once had an army colonel tell me that in a battle, there are 20 out of 100 soldiers who shouldn’t even be there; they’re not trained and they should be nowhere near the battlefield. Then there are probably 70 more who are never going to pull the trigger or actively engage in the fight, so they’re just basically targets for the enemy. Of the remaining ten, nine are true soldiers, but there is only one who is a warrior.

Friend, you are that one out of a hundred! You are a warrior for the Lord; one who’s willing to go the extra mile and endure suffering. I want you to embrace the reality that anything is possible in your life with Jesus Christ, but also to expect and welcome the rough road whose milestones are built on difficulty and struggle. The journey is worth it. You are Jesus’ warrior and He wants to show His power and glory in and through your life. Isn’t that amazing news?

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for calling me to be your warrior. I acknowledge the suffering will be part of my journey, but I choose to embrace it, knowing that you are leading me to my divine destiny.

    3. Thanks so much pastor Schuller as I go through struggle to make me a warrior. I am Christ’s Warrior and the world’s sufferer. I
always communicate weakness as a source of getting to what is right yet the world doesn’t understand why I do this. I am honest about wanting a clear perspective, others react from the conditions to survive in the world not from the spirit of god. I’ve been told I’m a warrior like David after the heart of god. I was anointed with the myrr oil when I was baptized in my Armenian church that came from the original oil given to the mother Armenian church by one of Christ’s disciples 2000 yrs ago. I owe my sole to Jesus for the gifts he has given. Thanks so much
