“So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.”

– Genesis 37:28

As we live out our dreams that God has given us, there are times when we are underground, in the pit, forgotten, unseen by others, or suffering. There is something positive that will come out of your experience if you are willing to endure the pit with God. Because He never abandons you as you keep His word in your heart, the pit will become a place of victory! This will turn any experience in the trenches into a place of abundant reward.

Over the past few days, I shared the story of Joseph and his time in the pit. It wasn’t by choice that Joseph lived in misery, and it wasn’t his choice to pay that price, but he trusted his God-given dream! Oftentimes, we have to rely on God to move us beyond life’s pitfalls, and that can be challenging. We must choose to start painting when we stare at a blank canvas, or take the walk or search for opportunities. Choose to read the books, to apologize, or to start the novel. Decide today — not tomorrow — to get in the fight and move forward.

Friend, you always have a choice! Many people think they don’t have a choice. The perpetrator almost always blames the victim. The thief will justify their actions by claiming the wallet shouldn’t have been left on the table. Christians sometimes do the same thing in their walk, saying they had no choice, they were too busy, or had too many things on their plate. No one will force you to do what you’re called to do. You have to make the choice. You have a choice, and that’s a good thing!

Father, help me trust you when I am forgotten and unnoticed.

Are you willing to pay the price for your dream? Have you had to make any difficult choices?
