“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ ”
– Psalm 91:1,2
![]() Did you know that you can live in the presence of God today? Heaven, while it is certainly a physical location, can also be defined as a place where the Lord dwells. Since He lives within you, it’s safe to say that many elements of that eternal place can be enjoyed here and now, especially with the undying love of Jesus. In His presence, there is complete fulfillment: total joy, total peace and total life. Psalm 91 is one of the most famous affirmations of God’s presence and protection (I encourage you to read the whole thing when you have a minute), and interestingly, it was not original to David like many of the Psalms were. Instead, it was authored by Moses and included in David’s book of songs, so it was ancient even when he quoted it! The words of this passage were sung by the Israelites often, especially when they had to go to war or were facing a trial or sickness. Because it’s a song of covering and protection, it’s a perfect reminder of the presence of God here on earth. Friend, living in the Lord’s presence is a gift to you as a Christian. No matter where you go or what you do, you have a protector and provider who shelters you and sustains you. He provides you with grace and favor. I encourage you to remember, every day, that there is One who walks beside you to carry you when you’re weary and to catch you when you fall. Isn’t that wonderful news? |
Prayer
Your presence is a gift to me, Jesus. Keep me mindful of the truth that you are always with me so I can rest confidently under your wings.
Reflection
How do you embrace Jesus’ presence with you as you go about your daily life?

There is a typo in the Scripture reference. It is Psalm 91:1,2
Psalm 91 not Psalm 1
Today’s scripture is from Psalm 91, not Psalm 1……….
As I go about my day I know God is with me. I’m not alone facing life’s uncertainty. Especially today with hurricane Ian threatening Florida, I pray God will provide the strength we need to either survive the storm ,or help those in it’s path. No matter what I face- God is with me.
