As a Man Thinketh, so Is He (or She)

Pastor Bobby begins a new message series called: “As a Man Thinketh.” This series will explore how our thoughts directly impact our lives, and that when we change the way we think, we can change the world. Today’s message: “As a Man Thinketh, So Is He (or She).”

Erwin McManus is the founder of the Los Angeles community of faith MOSAIC, and the acclaimed author of several books. His latest, powerful work is called The Last Arrow. In this book, he explores the need to be bold and driven; not to die with your quiver full.

Bridgette Bentley is an Hour of Power favorite, having performed on the program many times over the years. Bridgette was a principal performer in the Glory of Christmas and was a member of the road show of The Color Purple. Today, Bridgette performs, “Grace” (comp: Tasha Cobbs) and “You Deserve It” (comp: J.J. Hairston). She is joined by Denise Carite, Darryl Phinnesse, and Dorian Holley, along with the Hour of Power Choir with Dr. Irene Messoloras, and is accompanied by Dr. Marc Riley and the Hour of Power Orchestra.

Directed by Dr. Irene Messoloras, the Hour of Power Choir, along with soloist Courtney Taylor, performs “I Believe” (comp: Mark Miller). The choir is accompanied by Zeljko Marasovich on the organ and Dr. Marc Riley and the Hour of Power Orchestra.

  1. Although I’m already on your email mailing list, I would like to take this time to ask for a prayer on my behalf.

I have been struggling not only with financial difficulty, but with bad thoughts. I think I just need to feel closer to God and talk more to Him than I do. I watch your weekly broadcast weekly and spend each morning with devotions followed by a moment of personal prayer. I think it helps me get through most of each day, but yet find myself with bad thoughts later on in each day. One of my daily devotional books suggests saying the name of “Jesus’ when those bad thoughts come to mind, to re-aim my thinking and put evil thoughts away. I guess I do not do that enough. I feel bad that I have such a difficult time with life. I only ask that you pray with me on this and all other problems I’m facing. Thank you, God Bless all of you.

  2. Thank you for your message/series today. I smiled and laughed out loud (your synopsis of the Almeida study).

I’ve been watching Hour of Power over the years first w/your Grandfather (bless his soul)…though I’m not as old as that may make me seem!!!

I recently started watching again after you came to the pulpit and because I was hungry for the music. I am a member of a local Baptist church although I’ve not attended for some time, but have found several “TV churches” that I regularly watch.

And because I found your message(s) on the mind to be amazing I just wanted to come to your site (first time) this morning to read the transcript so I can pass it on to several people that I believe can benefit greatly from it…namely my husband who I’ve recently used the “mind over matter” cliché so I think it’s providence to hear that applied in Biblical ways!

Thank you. Bless your ministry and your family (especially your son).

    1. Hi Marie,

Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re so glad you’ve been able to be encouraged by Hour of Power and we love hearing how you want to share that with others. May God richly bless you as you shine His light to this world!

God loves you and so do we,

      -Hour of Power Team
