His Eye is on the Sparrow

March 1, 2020

Pastor Bobby continues the sermon series entitled “Consider the Birds of the Air.” In this series, Pastor Bobby will share how the Bible uses abstract imagery to help us understand ourselves, our neighbor, the world, and the Lord. Today’s message: “His Eye is on the Sparrow.”

In honor of the Hour of Powers 50th year on television, we are honoring the late, great Kirk Douglas, who recently passed away. This interview was recorded February 24, 2002 with Dr. Robert H. Schuller.

A returning Hour of Power favorite, Maiya Sykes is a soloist from Southern California. Sykes attended Yale with a triple major in Political Science, African American studies and Music Composition. Charles Jones is a singer, keyboardist, songwriter and producer. Today, Maiya and Charles perform “His Eye is on the Sparrow” (comp: Gene Bartlett; Charles Gabriel; C.D. Martin; orch: M. Riley) and “You’ve Been So Faithful” (comp: Eddie James; adapt & orch: M.  Riley) with Dr. Irene Messoloras and the Hour of Power Choir. Maiya and Charles are accompanied by Dr. Marc Riley and the Hour of Power Orchestra.

Directed by Dr. Irene Messoloras, the Hour of Power Choir performs “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord” (comp: Moses Hogan).

We have benefited from Hour of Power for over forty years.
But never so greatly as now!
We have a vast lot of experiences to relate and we find that our capacity to connect with people from all backgrounds is a gift to be used for The Gospel
Among our beautiful Christian friends is a uniquely dedicated and multi gifted singer called Steve Grace.
As we hope to be with you in November, it would be wonderful for Bobby to interview Steve and to hear his songs.
