“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
– Galatians 5:22,23
![]() Yesterday, we talked about storing up Heavenly treasures – things that transcend the box when we die. Today, I want to give an example of what eternal treasure might be. Theoretically, if you had a choice between having a million dollars or having the knowledge to make a million dollars, which would you choose? The person with wisdom would say that it’s better to have the knowledge to make a million dollars because then they could conceivably do it a hundred times, right? Intangible things, such as the gifts of the Spirit, always produce greater wealth than material stuff can ever hope to. In the same way, it’s best not to trust in the material things of life, but to trust in the Giver of those things. Store up for yourself knowledge, wisdom, joy, rest, and most importantly, a relationship with God. When you come to the end of your life, knowing Him will be the only thing that matters. When you go through the valley of the shadow of death on this earth and ultimately come to the last of your days, He will take care of you. He has given you everything you need and you never have to worry about lack in this life or in the next. What great news! |
Prayer
Jesus, teach me to value the gifts of your Spirit above any worldly possessions. Help me to seek you first and trust you to meet my needs.
Reflection
Do you know Jesus? Are you confident that when you die, your Spirit will live on with Him?
