“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build.” -Ecclesiastes 3:1-3
Every calling comes to an end. God calls us to do many different things, and one calling must end for another to begin. But this can be hard: we’re doing what God has called us to do, what we were born to do, and then suddenly, it ends. We get fired, or we get an injury or sick, or divorced. There’s a plot twist in our calling, and we weren’t expecting it. We wonder, “how could God let this happen, he called me to do this” But every calling comes to an end, no matter where you are in life. You may be in an in-between, just like we are in Advent. Have hope, because God has another calling for you. You aren’t finished: He has something even bigger planned for you.
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for being with me through seasons of change. When one door closes, a bigger one opens. Thank you for your powerful plan for my life.
REFLECTION: Have you had a calling end? Were you able to realize your new calling as time passed?
