“Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’ “

– Luke 8:47,48

Today is Patriots Day, marking the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. We honor in prayer those whose lives were lost, and the unparalleled changes to the families personally affected, along with our citizens, and our nation.

The miracle I share today is just one of many that Jesus performed. It is interesting to note that Jesus was summoned to heal a child, but was interrupted to heal a woman who had a bleeding disorder. As Jesus returns to Capernaum, a synagogue leader interrupts him as He is teaching. He tells Jesus that his 12-year-old daughter is dying, and to please come heal her. But a disruption occurs as Jesus follows the father to his home.

Because Jesus is famous, people swarm around him. Nearby, a woman sees an opportunity to heal a bleeding disorder that has kept her in bondage for 12 years. After seeing multiple doctors, she knows this is her last chance. She’s confident she will be healed if she touches the hem of Jesus’ cloak. That hem likely had ten tassels, which represents the Ten Commandments, and are still worn in Israel today. It’s a symbol of God’s word, and His faithfulness.

Friend, when she touches Him, she is instantly healed. As Jesus felt the power leave his body, he asked, “Who touched me?” With everyone touching him, he knew this healing encounter was different. She tells Him it was her. He says, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Faith is a powerful thing! I encourage you to use your faith today.

Prayer

Father, give me the strength to use my faith every day.
