Faithfulness Leads to Fruitfulness

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

– 2 Corinthians 4:8-10

Friend, you have to fight through the bad days to earn the best days of your life. Maybe you’re going through something today; maybe you have hit a wall at your job or you have been treated unfairly by a boss or coworker. Perhaps you’re in some kind of training that feels like more than you can bear and you are saying to yourself, I just can’t do this right now. I want you to press through. Don’t quit and don’t walk away because you’re tired. If you’re going to walk away, wait until it’s on your terms; don’t leave because you feel defeated. God has more for you there. Faithfulness leads to fruitfulness!

It is the churches that have pastors who devote their whole lives to the cause that do the best, not those with itinerant leaders who shift every five to ten years. Likewise, it is businesses with executives and employees who refuse to stop stretching and growing that ultimately succeed — it has been proven time and time again. Jesus’ journey to the cross was not an easy one; in fact, the three years of His earthly ministry were full of challenges and opportunities to quit. However, He stayed the course and did His Father’s will, even to the point of giving up His life. As a result, the entire world has been changed!

Friend, you will continually face trials and obstacles as you live in your calling, but follow the example of Jesus and don’t give up. The same power that raised Him from the dead lives in you, so you can press through. As you do, your joy and faithfulness will become evident to the world around you and God will be glorified in your life! Isn’t that an awesome thought?

Prayer

I pray, Jesus, for wisdom and persistence as I face obstacles and challenges along my path. Strengthen me so that I can be faithful and fruitful in my calling.

Reflection

How does the life of Jesus provide encouragement to you as you refuse to give up, even when the road is rough?
