“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
– Psalm 127:3
![]() There’s nothing like doing your best to live the Gospel with all your heart and watching the Lord move in the hearts of the people you love as a result. I remember once when Hannah and I were having a little worship night with our kids. It was just the four of us, and Haven spoke up and said, “Mom and Dad, do you ever feel like God speaks to you?” And we said, “Yes.” And she said, “Did God just speak to you now when you were worshiping?” And I said, “Well, in some ways, but not directly.” Hannah said, “No, not right now.” And then my precious daughter said, “I feel like God spoke to me.” And she told us a great thing she felt like the Lord had said to her on behalf of our whole family. I can’t tell you how much that blessed my heart! There is no greater reward than imparting the things of God to your children, whether biological or spiritual, and seeing them take root and bear fruit through action. Friend, at the end of your days on earth, a heritage of faith is all that matters! The time you took to impart the things of God to others whenever you had the opportunity is what will bear life-transforming fruit that reaps eternal rewards. Never be too busy to model the love and compassion of Jesus when He opens a door, whether it be through a word of affirmation, a short prayer, an encouraging text, or an empathic and grace-filled conversation. Live your life in service to others, be serious about modeling the Lord to your offspring, and you will fashion a legacy that far outlives you! |
Prayer
Jesus, I want to leave a legacy of faith that far outlives my time on earth.
Reflection
What spiritual heritage are you fashioning in your life today?
