Yesterday we talked about living life with open hands. Today, I’d want to expand on that concept by sharing with you a spiritual law that allows you to keep this posture of openness: give away what you most desire. One of the most effective ways to invite God’s blessing into our lives, in my opinion, is to give to others what we most lack. This may feel radical to some of you, and it is in light of what the world teaches; but, the notion is that the more you give up, the more room you have to fill with wonderful things. For instance, think of a container that is about half-filled with water. If you are thirsty, it will be quite tempting to keep every last drop of that liquid to yourself and not share it, even if you are aware that others are thirsty as well. Nonetheless, I believe that when you choose to bless others by pouring water into their cups, Jesus will not only replenish what you give away, but He will also fill you to the point of overflowing with His Living Water — the kind that far exceeds anything you have ever experienced or tasted!

Friend, giving is always one of the best ways to get! Giving opportunity is one of the finest ways to invite opportunity, and loving people is one of the best ways to be loved. Unfortunately, holding on to things out of fear of not having enough simply causes you to lose more. Instead, when you cease guarding and preserving what you have, you open the door to a flood of God-sized gifts! In fact, Jesus’ abundance is so enormous that He will give you more than you need, and the overflow will continue to benefit others! The Lord wants to open the Heavens for you and pour out friendship, joy, kindness, and eternal life, so let go of what you think you need and receive His best in your circumstances.

Prayer


Jesus, teach me to give away the things I believe I need most and trust you to replace them with your Heavenly richness.

  1. Yes LOVE is the GREATEST you can never give enough LOVE especially to your enemies, to those who deserve it least.
    To pray blessings onto those who despitefully use & abuse you. To pray their eyes be open so they come to their senses & to find Jesus , humility confession repentance, the joy of salvation & life.
    The GREATEST gift is to give LOVE freely, to forgive & be forgiven. To pray unceasingly
    To love the unlovable LORD JESUS fill us with your love, teach me to love others how they need to be loved.
    Faith, hope & love, LOVE is the greatest gift. Love never ends. GOD IS LOVE.
