“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.”
-Hebrews 4:9-10

When you think of your work, who are you serving and why are you there? If you can’t answer that question, you most likely do not like your job. No wonder everybody’s working for the weekend.

Weekends are good, vacations are good, but my hope is that you have weekends and vacations as a diet and not a feast. What I mean by that is that, if you don’t enjoy your job, you will love your time off too much. You need to take weekends off as a balance to your work. But, if you spend every day dreaming about your next vacation or your next weekend, that’s too much.

You can transform the way you work and live your life. You can find joy in your work as you labor for the Lord, and find balance in your rest and recreation in your time off.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me find the balance I need between time spent working and time spent resting. May that balance be a blessing to you. Amen.

Reflection: Have you struck a good balance between work and rest?
