“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” -Romans 15:4

The Bible is not a book; it’s a library, a collection of books that have been gathered over thousands of years by our spiritual ancestors. These people had encountered God in history doing amazing things that God wanted to make sure that we wouldn’t forget – through his stories, his principles, and his word to carry forever in our hearts. They are love notes.

Scriptures should fold into our lives and be a hundred percent for you and for me right now. The Bible is not some esoteric historic document, but something that’s made available to us right now.

When we read the Scriptures and we learn the Scriptures, we are actually training our spiritual ears to know the sound of our Father’s voice. When we study them, and make them an important part of our lives, then when God speaks to us, we’ll know it’s God because it’s in line with his Scripture.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, the greatest library in the world is found in the Holy Bible. I praise you for this grace-filled way that you instruct me, correct me, encourage me, and love me day by day. Amen.

REFLECTION: What Scripture has particularly shaped your life in a positive way?
