“The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, ‘Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?’ Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, ‘Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?’ ”

Luke 5:21-22

You know, when we foster bitter thoughts towards others or towards ourselves, we develop a bitter future. But when we foster thoughts of grace, joy, forgiveness and life, despite the things we’re going through, we will pave a path to a beautiful future. And so the choice is laid before you. The path of life or the path of death. You can choose to think thoughts that give life, or you can choose to think thoughts that hurt yourself and others. If you think beautiful thoughts, you will build a beautiful life in Jesus’ name. Amen? And that’s why the scriptures talk so much about thinking: As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. As a woman thinketh in her heart, so is she. Literally: you become what you think and what you dwell on. So change your thoughts, and you’ll change your world.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for teaching us about thinking. Help us to dwell on good thoughts, so we pave a path to a beautiful life.
